An imagined chapter from the Alchemist’s Pantry.

Beyond the pantry door, our imagined walled garden holds fennel umbels, sturdy herbs and the promise of a tray pulled golden from the oven. Hortus Magicus brings that garden to potatoes and roots: gentle muscovado sweetness, earthy porcini and generous garlic, threaded with winter savory and fragrant fennel. Tomato adds a soft savoury finish beneath the pepper.

The Alchemist’s Recommendation

Designed for roast potatoes, carrots, parsnips and mixed vegetable trays. Toss with a little oil and a light coating of the blend during roasting, giving the seasoning time to cook while avoiding a dark, scorched crust. Turn for even browning. Serve beside a roast or with beans and cooked greens. Final serving and cooking directions will be confirmed through trials.

Ingredients

Coarse sea salt, light muscovado sugar, porcini mushroom powder, garlic granules, winter savory, black pepper, fennel seed, dried tomato flakes, tapioca starch.
